I am excited to see that lineup. I had a talk with Gary when I saw him two weeks ago and he told me the new album will be the heaviest stuff they have ever done.

Now I want your guys opinion about Exodus. I had this conversation with Gary as well but do you think this is not Exodus but more a supergroup? Maybe the Gary Hold Project? Just a thought.

Typical Gary Holt when he says the stuff woill be the heaviest ever... since back in the days he always said that for every album even for stuff as uninspired as "Impact.."... damn, won't he realise one day that he has lost much of his ability to come up with shredding riffs ala "Parasite" or "P.O.T.F."? I wish he could and then take a new way...
This line up is exciting, at least now Gary is back up by people who are really into the thing -well i hope Bostaph is still into Metal big time through I have doubts- and it's like a supergroup but it's cool.... I prefer to see this than seeing a band that plays Metal cos it's cool but without being themselves into Metal anymore. Now if he could have a real bass player it would be even better.
As for the new album.... it's better than the pitiful "tempo.." but only half of the stuff is okay -I didn't say great- okay stuff but nothing extraordinary and what are we looking for usually from a guy who has penned two killer albums and an okay one ("fabulous")? Killer stuff, not average thrash.... that's the problem with Gary, you ca,n hear that he doesn't force himself to come up with shredding stuff.... now I hope Lee will have some influence if he stays with him cos on the other hand Mr Altus still know how to write first class Power Metal.

Well, here in my nick of the woods, the only things more uncool than metal would be country and gospel music, so...
I expect Lee to seriously kick Gary's behind during rehearsals and on stage, but he needs to get a hand in the writing also, otherwise I don't see how the quality level can be raised again. Also, don't you think Gary puts too much of his energy and aggression into sports and stuff? In this case, that's a lot of adrenaline wasted in my opinion.

Somehow I never get into "Tempo of the Damned" at all. I have bought the CD but I very rarely give it a listen. Somehow it doesn't do a thing to me. I just wish Exodus would go back to 440 standard tuning. Since 1997 they have changed into a Machine head Burn my eyes sound and that's not how I would like EXODUS to sound.

I don't know if Lee can change anything on that or if he is willing to do so. I have a feeling the new EXO CD will be in the TOTD style so I have given up on hoping they go back to BBB or POTF.

I just hope Lee joining Exodus won't mean the end of HEATHEN. You just never know. Remember what happened to VIO-LENCE after Phil joined Machine head.It was only a temporary thing at first...

Yeah you're right Prof, he should listen to his ANGEL WITCH, SATAN, M. FATE albums and early EXODUS bootlegs instead of wasting his time on this. Then maybe he would be able again to come up with shredding riffs....

Well Luc, like I said, the new album is FORTUNATELY slightly better than the totally awful "tempo.." release...at least he come up with some shredding parts on some songs, even one tune is real good. the opener "Razel" is just crap, type of AC/DC on Thrash. I don't think it's a question of tuning, it's just a question ofg ability of coming with riffs that sticks in your mind without sound happy or shit like this..and that's Holt problem since the "F. Disaster" era....
Now I also hope Lee won't give up on HEATHEN, that's the biggest risk at this point and it would be a disaster.... but of course playing with HEATHEN doesn't bring food on the table while with EXODUS there's a chance that they can achieve something bigger nowadays.... so I would understand Lee if he would join EXODUS completely and break HEATHEN...at least I prefer to see him EXODUS than in fuckin' M. HEAD or bullshit like this right?!

Well since I haven't hear the new stuff. I can't comment on that yet. As far as Lee is concerned I doubt he will have much of a influence on recording. Gary strikes me as a one person writing team. He writes all the guitar stuff himself. So we shall see. As far as Heathen goes I wouldn't be surprised if this is it for a long time. Lee needs a steady gig so Exodus it is.

I think Lee was the perfect choice to join Exodus now. He is a very skilled guitarist, and the latest demos I heard from Heathen reminded me a lot of Exodus. I was never a big Heathen fan but those last demos sounded excellent, and I am REALLY looking forward to hearing their new disc.

I think their last album was very good but I thought the lyrics were dumb and I am not a big fan of that digitial production sound with downtuned guitars and triggered drums that so many bands go for these days.
