Hey Laurent,

Like the Mighty one said, I'll buy anything you put out. I'll take ten everytime it's printed if it means you keep printing it. It's the only mag I buy and the only one that covers the music I love.

Jeff Ulmer hat geschrieben: Professor: I wasn't aware that you were into cinema. My own love of film got me into reviewing DVDs for digitallyOBSESSED.com. I don't have much in the way of French directors apart from Godard, Truffaut, Rohmer, Besson, Clémént or Tati (and others I'm forgetting). I'm still hoping for a decent transfer of Berri's Jean de Florette/Manon des Sources. While not French cinema, I would love to see some of our National Film Board's french language works released, like Perron's Taureau.

Well, there seem to be a few dedicated SP-followers around, Laurent.

@ Jeff
Yes, I have been a film nut ever since I was little. This is not the place/thread to discuss cinema, however - Snakepit rules, you know! - but perhaps we can trade some views elsewhere? I've been checking out your reviews on the Digitally Obsessed-website and was quite surprised to find such an eclectic list of titles. As far as film tastes within the metal community go, it's mostly horror, comedies, action and weird stuff, and that's just too limited for me. I'm just not 14 anymore. Discussing Eric Rohmer's Conte d'Eté (one of my favourite Rohmer-titles, right up there with the brilliant La femme de l'aviateur and Quatre aventures de Reinette et Mirabelle) on the Sacred Metal English Language Forum would be a blast, though. :)

Jean de Florette/Manon des Sources have been re-released over here, but I haven't seen the discs, so I cannot comment on them.

You're right, this isn't the place to discuss cinema. :)

The English forum would be a possibility, but perhaps you should sign up at HTF.

Hopefully once the printed issue 15 gets out it will get the support it deserves so Laurent can keep producing the mag. There needs to be an alternative to mags who only cover bands that pay to be included - don't get any ideas! ;)

I always dreamed about founding a real mag like Snakepit...
For all the words unspoken, for all the deeds undone,
for all our shattered dreams, for all the songs unsung,
for all the lines unwritten and all our broken hearts,
for all our wounds still bleeding and all our kingdoms come.

An open letter to every Snakepit fan:

As Laurent's longtime friend and Snakepit contributor, I have to say something here. It seems that even though everyone's enthusiasm for Snakepit is evident among those who post here, but what about those that do not? If this is a community, then everyone that has a voice for true Heavy Metal will speak up and spread the word as much as possible by whatever means to bring Snakepit to the former level of glory that it held.

In the past few years, I have spoken with Laurent on many occasions about the future of Snakepit and how difficult it really is to maintain this level of coverage and the time constraints it puts on our personal lives. This, to some, may seem like 'whining' or 'complaining', but rest assured that this is no easy feat to carry the weight of all the tasks that go into the making of an issue. The VERY LEAST we can do, as true FANS of Metal and the mag, is to ACT while there is a chance to save it and make it worth doing. I know it does not seem like much, but think of it this way.... if you order one copy of SP for yourself, chances are you know at least ONE other person that would enjoy its contents, so why not order two copies? In this way, we can effectively DOUBLE the circulation, and subsequently, introduce twice as many readers to all the killer stuff SP has to offer. The following excerpt from Laurent's letter speaks volumes about this fact...

I just hope you European readers won?t back on it because it has to be ordered from there (and cost a few extra bucks because of the postage)?. think about what I wrote here and the fact that Yosuke will really need your support if you want to get Snakepit going on? I think that?s the last chance here?. Plus you?ll get a pro printed copy (like before), you?ll be able to pay via paypal etc? everything I can?t offer you?."

I feel it is VITAL that everyone of you that enjoy so much the contents of SP to think about the possibility of ordering several copies. Yosuke is the MAN, and without him, there would not be an "American" printing of the mag. We owe it to him, to Laurent, and to the future of Snakepit to do all we can to spread the word and increase the distro of this one-of-a-kind mag! To those who already buy multiple copies, thank you so much for caring. To those who think they will give it a shot, we salute you! To those who won't consider it, well then I guess you will have nothing to say when you hold in your hands the last copy of the world's best Metal magazine.

To the Professor: thank you for your compliments about the HIBRIA review. It's great to hear that people really can detect the enthusiasm in a review. That was my whole intent was to get people to check them out, because they, along with bands like MALEDICTION, truly do deserve your attention! Look for features on both bands in the next issue.

Take care Metal friends, and please do your part to spread the word about Snakepit. Our future depends on it!

All the best in Metal,
Brian Ash

Thank you guys for your support.... I knew already that those who post here regularly (a handful) would understand the situation... I hope those who viewed this but didn't stop to say a word (positive or negative, I don't care as long as there's feedback) will do as well... thanks Brian.... you forgot to say that I didn't pay you for the words you wrote ;) ... no seriously, what Brian said reflects everything.

PLEASE PLEASE GIVES ALL POWER TO YOSUKE FROM NOW! He'll be the one that will need the orders/ support if the whole thing has to continue further.

Snakepit rules, no question about that. I bought every issue I could get my hands on and I didn't regret it. There's no better magazine available on the market today and it's always a pleasure to read it.

I really hope that there will be new issues in the future, since there is no adequate replacement in sight. Snakepit is a magazine done by heart and it deserves to continue for a long time.
