O man, this festival should be shipped to Europe in its ENTIRETY. B) Jeez, what a line-up - haven't seen anything like it. Ever. I couldn't even name one band on the bill that I would like to see replaced by another one. This is ALL quality.
Man, we should book a Sacred-Metal plane and fly right out there to Chicago.

We just got back from the show, and it went over very, very well. :D

I had no idea how many fans we had that had come from all corners of the U.S. to see us play this show, so it was a real treat to finally meet everyone.

I got a bit toooooo drunk Friday night with the guys from Imagika.... and was a little sick on Saturday because of it, but was feeling much better by the time we hit the stage. I'd also like to add that the guys in Morgana Lefay are CRAZY Swedes! LOL!

anyhow, it was all metal, all weekend, and it went down like this:

Warmachine - great band from Canada, they sounded a bit like WOLF, with a good classic sound. They were having tuning problems early on, but had it worked out mid-way through the set. A very good metal act.

Silencer - A blistering and brutal set from our borthers next door in Colorado. Their new material is sounding much heavier, thrashier and stronger in my opinon, and came across live excellent.

Archtype - My wife was looking forward to these guys the most, they sounded very good,, and their new singer (who I am told is a HUGE Katagory V fan B) ) is very much like Halford/Ripper, with a very strong high range voice and great precence. I believe they played some new material, but had been pulled off the side of the stage into the merchandise area halfway through their set and missed the last half. Overall they were excellent live!

Morgana Lefay - WOW! They were killer! They played some of my favorites including "To Isengard" and "S.O.S" live. They also played some of their news songs, and I can tell you now, if you are fan of their "Sanctified" album, you will be CRUSHED by the new stuff! They even had copies for sale at the show, and it's supposedly not released yet! I was going to buy my copy, but ended up baby sitting a lot of the merch on Saturday.... And was sitting right across from them the whole time and spaced it. I'm kciking myself right now.

Katagory V - ehh... We did okay.

Imagika - old-school, Bay-Area thrash has never sounded better! Our metal brother's (and sister) tore it up, and the new material soudned great, and new vocalist, Norman, pulled off the old material perfectly with a lot more character as well. You have to see drummer Henry "hammered Hank" Moreno play... He is an absolutly fluid and solid drummer, and very underated in my opinion.

Ion Vein - I was tending the merch booth. However, I still could still hear them, and I was very tempted to abandon our table and run up and sing "Faith and Majesty"... The best song they have written to date! Russ really sounded good, and their new 2nd guitarist (forgot his name right now, but he used to pay with Talamasca) was tight with Chris on the songs.

Twelfth Gate - I love these guys, they are seriously underated. Although I feel their performance was much tighter at Classic Metal Fest two years ago, they still did a great job. Scott is a powerful singer too. The new songs are much heavier and it sound like they are moving in a much more modern and heavier/thrashier sound. From what I heard live from sitting att eh merch booth, I'm looking forward to their new album for sure!

Tad Morose - ...ahhhhh, one of my favorite bands of all time! They played for nearly two hours and we didn't get back to the hotel until almost 3:00am. They played nearly every one of my favortie songs, they even played "A Mended Rhyme" which I was told hasn't been perforemd live for many, many years! These guys really know how to put ona metal show, and Urban had the crowd in his hands all night. I misse dtwo songs while I was running our merch back to the hotel with Imagika... But I could hear them form the hotel (located across the street) and I pushed my way up to the front for a few songs when I got back. Let me also add that Anders is one hell of a bassist!

Ironiclly, I have been getting flooded with emails about Powerfest that I'm still sifting thorugh since we got back... Oddly enough, we have had several of these emails wondering when we are coming over to Germany since our new album will be out late this summer and we're playing live again. There were two or three that were suggesting a cetain festival specificly (looks over at Oliver... ) B) ;)

We should Hopefully have pictures on-line after this weekend, and I'll probably give a different perspective of the show on our website and forum also.
