AGENT STEEL with John Cyriis at KEEP IT TRUE 14 cancelled!!

Hallo Freunde,

Leider müssen wir euch die Absage von AGENT STEEL mit John Cyriis für das KEEP IT TRUE 14 bekannt geben. Wir haben in dieses Projekt so viel Zeit und Energie investiert und sind nun am Boden zerstört. Wir wussten vorher, dass es riskant und schwierig werden wird, aber wir wollten es für alle AGENT STEEL und KEEP IT TRUE Fans probieren. Ich weiss, dass dies nun für viele Fans sehr enttäuschend ist, aber Gitarrist Juan Garcia (bitte lest sein Statement am Ende) und ich wollen euch erklären, warum es soweit gekommen ist. Nach der überraschenden Reunion im letzten Jahr mit dem Originalsänger John Cyriis lief alles ziemlich nach Plan. Sie spielten die Japan Shows und wir waren sehr optimistisch. Die ersten Zweifel kamen dann, nachdem AGENT STEEL für die 70000 Tons of Metal Cruise auf die Gastsänger Rick Mythiasin und James Rivera zurückgreifen mussten. Aber trotzdem schien immer noch alles nach Plan zu laufen. Dann bekamen wir anfangs dieser Woche völlig neue Forderungen von einem Bandmitglied, die wir als kleines und idealistisches Festival weder erfüllen konnten noch wollten. Diese Forderungen und die schwelenden internen Bandprobleme (siehe Juans Statement) führten schließlich zur Absage. Da Ihr alle treue KEEP IT TRUE Fans seid und unsere Vorgehensweisen kennt, könnt Ihr uns glauben, dass wir wirklich alles probiert haben um es möglich zu machen, aber am Ende war es sogar für uns zuviel. Da Juan, Bernie und der Rest der Band so hart an dieser Sache gearbeitet haben, haben wir uns entschlossen, die Band weiterhin am KIT 14 spielen zu lassen, allerdings aus legalen Gründen unter anderem Namen (MASTERS OF METAL). Der Sänger bei dieser wohl einzigartigen Show wird Rick Mythiasin von STEEL PROPHET sein. Rick sollte bereits letztes Jahr bei uns als Teil der Crimson Glory Tribute Show spielen, wurde aber kurz vorher krank. Wir sind nun glücklich, dass er es nun doch auf die KIT Bühne schafft. Bitte gebt der Band euren uneingeschränkten Support, sie haben alles versucht um es möglich zu machen. Sie sind nicht nur selbst wahre Underground Metal Fans, sondern auch langjährige Freunde von uns…

“We'd like to clarify false rumors in the press that state that Rick Mythiasin is the new singer of AGENT STEEL; that is not the case whatsoever; Rick filled in for John Cyriis for the inaugural 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise and did a tremendous job. When we reunited with original vocalist John Cyriis for Thrash Domination 2010 in Japan, our intention was that as long as things were moving in a positive working direction that we would forge ahead and perform reunion shows in 2011. As of now, we have reached the inevitable fork in the road; having worked unimaginably hard into making this recent reunion a solid reality, a difficult situation has turned much more complicated which has forced the cancellation of AGENT STEEL at the Keep It True Festival in Germany this upcoming April. As a symbol of dedication to the fans, the music, and the A S legacy alike, we are excited to announce that the organizer of this festival has invited the band members to still perform, but under a different moniker, and singer Rick Mythiasin has been officially invited as the vocalist to join us onstage, once again, devastate all that witness.“

We are very sad to announce the cancellation of AGENT STEEL with John Cyriis at KEEP IT TRUE 14. We invested so much time and energy in this project and it is really devastating for us. We knew in advance that it will be a risky and complicated task, but we wanted to do it for all the AGENT STEEL and KEEP IT TRUE fans. I know this is dissapointing for many fans, so Juan Garcia (see his statement in this newsletter, too) and I want to explain what lead to this. After the surprising reunion with original singer John Cyriis everything went really smooth. They played the Japanese shows and we were really optimistic about everything. The first doubts came up after the singer replacement just for the 70000 tons of Metal Cruise, but even after that we were really looking forward to it. Then by the beginning of this week we were facing totally new demands from one part of the band, that we as a still small and dedicated festival could not meet and really also do not want to meet. This plus the troubles within the band itself (see Juans statement) lead to the final cancellation of AGENT STEEL with John Cyriis. As you are all dedicated KEEP IT TRUE Fans you know that we really tried everything to do it, but in the end it was too much for all of us. Since Juan, Bernie and the rest of the band worked so hard on it, we decided to still have the band under a new name (MASTERS OF METAL) due to legal reasons, with the amazing singer Rick Mythiasin (STEEL PROPHET). Rick was supposed to sing for us already last year on our Crimson Glory tribute show but got sick before the show. I am happy that he finally can enter the KIT stage. Please give them all the support they really deserve. They are not only dedicated metalhead but also great friends.

Ich nehme mal an, das Bandmitglied mit den unrealistischen Forderungen war der Sänger - unter den Umständen kann man dann natürlich auch auf den verzichten.

Das ist doch sch......ade. Aber irgendwie hatte ich von Anfang an damit gerechnet. Ist eben der Cyriss, ne.

Einen besseren Ersatzsänger kanns zudem kaum geben.

Na ja, seine letzte Performance mit Steel Prophet am SBF war ja wohl eher unterdurchschnittlich. Da haperte es insbesondere bei den hohen Passagen (und die wird er bei einer Oldschool AS-Show zu Hauf zu bewältigen haben) wie z.B. bei "Messiah" ganz gewaltig. Das war wirklich nicht mehr schön. Von daher bin ich doch etwas skeptisch, was die Wahl des Ersatzmannes angeht, lasse mich aber gerne im April eines besseren belehren.

Und was die Absage angeht: das war ja schon vor der 70.000 Tons of Metal Geschichte irgendwie absehbar. Mit einer solch offensichtlich geistig verwirrten Person im Line-Up, bewegte sich diese Reunion ohnehin von Anfang an auf Messers Scheide. Sicher wäre es klasse gewesen, wenn es noch für den KIT-Gig gehalten hätte, aber vielleicht ist es auch ganz gut so. Zumindest die Videos aus Japan auf Youtube haben mich vocal-technisch nicht gerade vom Hocker gehauen.

Nichtsdestotrotz kann ich sehr gut nachvollziehen, dass hier für die Veranstalter eine Welt zusammenbricht. So kurz vor dem hart erkämpften Ziel eine solche Pleite zu erleben ist schon bitter, da habt ihr mein vollstes Mitgefühl. Trotzdem hat Oli es wieder geschafft ein so geiles Billing zusammenzustellen, dass der Verlust im Endeffekt mehr als verschmerzbar ist.

I guess this was the news we all were expecting since the band was confirmed...

Bad news indeed... Anyway, the line up it's still great and Juan, Bernie and the guys will give a good show, no doubt about it.

and Crimson Glory are still there!! so let's enjoy KIT XIV as we have always done with the previous ones!

Zwar irgendwo schade, aber lieber lasse ich meine Energie vor einer Bühne, auf der Sympathieträger stehen, denen was an der Sache liegt, als vor einer interstellaren Wesenheit, die man nur auf sein Organ reduzieren muss, und es scheinbar auch nicht anders will.
Um den Support würde ich mir also keine Sorgen machen.

Bleibt die Setlist denn trotzdem schön Achtziger?

Gar nicht gut... na ja, dann werde ich den Freitag schön ruhig ausklingen lassen. Ich schau´ wahrscheinlich schon mal rein, aber um ehrlich zu sein fand ich AS beim ersten KIT-Auftritt schon nur mittelprächtig, und Cyriis war der einzige Grund für mich die Band nochmal zu sehen.

Aber wie heißt es so schön: Bei manchen Leuten glaubt man erst dass sie spielen, wenn sie tatsächlich auf der Bühne stehen .

Ich hab's sogar schon 2 mal geträumt. Bei einem Traum stand die Band schon auf der Bühne, aber der John kam einfach nicht raus....

Wird trotzdem super!

Schade und am meisten leid tuts mir für die Veranstalter welche hier viel Energie, Arbeit und Herzblut investiert haben. Aber ich bin sicher, die KIT-Besucher werden's trotzdem mit einem gigantischen Support danken.
Bin jetzt gespannt, ob das Rock Hard-Festival die Kohle springen lässt oder ob man da auch in Kürze eine Absage lesen kann (ich tippe mal auf Zweiteres).
