DVP 244 Megaton Sword – Might & Power LP/CD/MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present MEGATON SWORD’s highly anticipated second album, Might & Power, on CD, music cassette and vinyl LP formats.

Since their auspicious birth in 2018, there’s been no stopping Switzerland’s MEGATON SWORD. As if their very moniker was a prescient stroke of genius – or, rather, a self-fulfilling prophecy – the once-quartet arrived fully formed with their glorious debut EP, Niralet, in 2019 via DYING VICTIMS. Here, virtually without warning, they evinced an ages-old sound that was wise (and wizened) well beyond their young years. Already, MEGATON SWORD knew the mystery of steel…and wielded it with a startling confidence. Which made their debut album the next year, Blood Hails Steel – Steel Hails Fire, all the more shocking: MEGATON SWORD somehow revealed new twists to that mystery of steel, and further evinced a charisma that was star-power writ large. Again released by DYING VICTIMS, it was no shock that Blood Hails Steel – Steel Hails Fire was hailed far and wide. And yet still, it seemed MEGATON SWORD were only getting started…

And they’re not finished – not by a long shot – as testified by their second album, Might & Power. Almost absurdly titled in its elegant simplicity, Might & Power might seem on the surface a reiteration of their true-as-steel HEAVY METAL, and to a large degree, that’s correct – MEGATON SWORD are still drunk on high fantasy and the enduring themes of conquest and valor, triumph and tragedy – but the deceptively expansive album sees the now-quintet stretching their sturdy sound in directions more dynamic and extreme. When was the last time you heard actual blastbeats on a true-metal album? Well, you’ll certainly find ‘em here on Might & Power and probably not bat an eyelash, for MEGATON SWORD wield all their weapons effortlessly. What about ‘70s singer-songwriter melodrama, plaintive piano and all? Same here: while far more subtle, the integration of softer, rock-oriented textures makes their metal all the more enduring – and exciting. For if there’s one guiding theme that earmarks Might & Power as MEGATON SWORD’s arguably greatest recording, it’s that the drama is windswept but undeniably human, in all its myriad hues; this may be heavy metal after all, but it’s not “only heavy metal.” Put another way, MEGATON SWORD so deeply understand that mystery of steel that they know when to sheath their (sonic) swords and offer a weathered hand, gently raising up their fallen comrades. Much credit goes to vocalist Uzzy Unchained, whose pipes poignantly narrate this evocative shift.

With no hyperbole intended, MEGATON SWORD are no longer on the march. They have truly reached the halls of greatness with Might & Power. Hearing is believing, but it just might bring you to tears.

DVP 246 Iron Curtain – Metal Gladiator EP MLP/MCD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present a brand-new mini-album from IRON CURTAIN, Metal Gladiator, on CD and 12” vinyl formats.

For over 15 years now, Spanish metal inquisition IRON CURTAIN have been stalwart defenders of the faith. With a discography that includes four full-lengths and twice as many EPs, splits, and demos, IRON CURTAIN’s ever-sturdy sound was forged in the fires of the early ‘80s: largely nodding to the eternal Motörhead as well as Tank, but also Canadian gods like Exciter and Razor, to the Teutonic might of early Iron Angel and Grave Digger, to Scandinavian gods OZ and Heavy Load, to cult American icons Abattoir and Savage Grace. And with the DYING VICTIMS release of career highpoint Danger Zone in 2019, that sound’s become even more rocking than ever.

And IRON CURTAIN continue that trajectory with a quick-hitting and absolutely electric mini-album titled Metal Gladiator. A smorgasboard of old & new and special all the same, Metal Gladiator includes three new and exclusive tracks – “Crossing the Acheron,” “Burn in Hell,” and the title track “Metal Gladiator” – recorded at their own Gorgon Studios during the latter half of 2021, displaying perhaps their most perfect balance of grit and gleam…total anthems! Then there are three older songs that include special lead-guitar friends: “Rough Riders”with Noboru Jero Sakuma (Gorgon, Abigail, Metalucifer), “Stormbound”with Blumi (Metal Inquisitor, Midnight Rider), and “The Running Man” with Harry Granroth (RAM). And lastly is the brand-new song “Rattlesnake,” which will be on IRON CURTAIN’s forthcoming fifth full-length. Altogether, Metal Gladiator is a new start for the band and resounding reassurance for IRON CULT’s true-metal dominance during their third decade of existence!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on ultra clear vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

DVP-R 010 Buzzard – Gambler LP/CD

RELICS FROM THE CRYPT, the sub-label of DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS dedicated to keeping the past alive, is proud to present a long-overdue reissue of the lone cult album of Belgium’s BUZZARD, Gambler, on vinyl LP and CD formats. The CD version also includes the band’s 1983 demo, A Strange Gang, as bonus tracks.

Hailing from Menen, West Flanders, Belgium’s BUZZARD initially began as early as 1979 when vocalist Hans Berten (Hanzie) and drummer Dirk Vanhee decided to start a band together. A search for a guitarist and bassist began in earnest, with guitarist Steve Deceuninck and Nick Debeuf (Riff) both joining midway through 1980. Since a bassist was not immediately found, Hans decided to take on bass guitar as well as vocals. The moniker BUZZARD was then chosen, as inspiration was drawn from the band Armageddon, whose 1975 album of the same name featured the song “Buzzard,” which Steve had learned to play on guitar. The band’s first gig took place in February 1981.

Lineup shuffles ensued, but BUZZARD eventually recorded the demo A Strange Gang in 1983, the only official demo they’d record. Their live reputation grew in kind, and the band came to the attention of Antler Records, who signed BUZZARD for a two-album deal. Perhaps not surprisingly, more lineup shuffles ensued two months before recording their debut album and even continued during its recording, but what a record they delivered.

Titled Gambler, BUZZARD’s first – and sadly, only – album is a poignant snapshot of heavy metal in 1984. Reprising three re-recorded songs from the preceding demo, Gambler bursts and bristles with a youthful energy that’s almost naïve, but endearingly and charmingly so. For BUZZARD were simply a HEAVY METAL band – not strictly speed metal, although they had their share of juiced-up rockers, nor did they have the pout & strut of so much hard rock-leaning metal of the time, and they definitely weren’t thrash, still very much in its nascent days – and one that nodded to both England and Germany, but never too often nor for too long. The album’s first two tracks perhaps spell it out best: “Stone-Hard and Loud” and “We Are Heavy Rockers,” as perfect of an opening combo as there is for the time. And the rest of the record is absolutely spellbinding in its verve and vivacity, with the recording just on the right side of rough.

Gambler was released at the end of October 1984, and the following week, disaster struck again: Steve was involved in a motorcycle accident and was in a coma for a week and a half, requiring three months of rehabilitation. When Steve was fit again, many gigs followed, including some concerts in France and in the Netherlands. Work then began on the second BUZZARD album, and although the writing process was progressing well and the record was already written, the band found that the fire was actually quietly dying out because of other interests, relationships etc. Thus, in February 1986, the band decided to pull the plug on BUZZARD.

Now, 38 years later, Gambler will see a well-deserved reissue – and, for the first time ever, on CD as well as vinyl. A BUZZARD reunion is out of the question because Steve has traded in his guitar for a drum kit over the years and also out of respect for Stephan Logie (Elly), who sadly left us in 2018. The former members still see each other regularly at local parties where old memories are made between pot and pint. BUZZARD created a band for life!

– Special edition on deep purple vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

DVP 247 Iron Kobra / Atom Smasher – Malicious Magician / The Law 7″

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present a split 7” EP between IRON KOBRA and ATOM SMASHER.

IRON KOBRA should be a familiar name to those who follow DYING VICTIMS, as the Germans have become something of a “flagship band” for the label after their two full-lengths, 2012’s Dungeon Masters and 2015’s Might & Magic. And just as those two albums’ titles (and covers!) display, IRON KOBRA are true-as-steel HEAVY METAL time-locked in 1984! And while it’s been quite quiet on the recorded front since that second full-length (except for the 2017 “Kerker & Drachen” 7”), the bikers from Hell return with a brand-new track here, “Malicious Magician,” that’s a glorious return to form – and shows they’re ready for a gleaming-black new chapter, swords strapped to their iron steeds. On the flip is fellow Germans ATOM SMASHER: despite forming in 2010, it wasn’t until a decade later when they delivered their first EP. And while a four-way split followed the next year, the duo’s spare discography suggests quality over quantity – and that’s what you get with their track here, “The Law,” which is a moody & mysterious epic of equally archaic metal. Bright days ahead for ATOM SMASHER, and DYING VICTIMS is stoked to get their name out there with the ever-reliable IRON KOBRA.

DVP-R 008 Sortilège – Larmes de heros Box/LP/CD

RELICS FROM THE CRYPT, the sub-label of DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS dedicated to keeping the past alive, is proud to present a long-overdue vinyl reissue of the classic second album of France’s SORTILÈGE, Larmes de héros.

A cult fixture in the ‘80s French heavy metal scene that retroactively grew in legendry, SORTILÈGE defined a unique national style that had equal footing in the NWOBHM, contemporaneous hard rock, and nascent epic metal. Formed in 1981 and releasing a demo and EP over the new two years, it was SORTILÈGE’s 1984 debut album, Métamorphose – also concurrently released in an English-language version as Metamorphosis – that truly introduced the band to worldwide audiences with a wild ‘n’ weird iteration of heavy metal. While that English version made their unique style more palatable (helped in no small part by its release on Steamhammer), it’s arguably the French-language version that defined the SORTILÈGE sound. And so it went with its superior follow-up.

Again released in both French- and English-language versions, SORTILÈGE’s second album is a tour de force of true-metal passion and performance, mysticism and might. Blithely summarized as French romantic twist on Judas Priest’s transition from the ‘70s to the ‘80s – or, rather, spanning Sin After Sin to Defenders of the Faith – the original Larmes de héros was released in that golden year of 1986, harkening to a fantastical place far, far away where hot rockers bloomed into heroic-yet-tragic epics. The English version of Hero’s Tears plainly spells out the path ahead, but the dramatic (and oft-melancholic) vocals of Christian Augustin in his native language truly chill/sizzle the soul: a veritable French Metal God. Not to be outdone, his bandmates create a canvas at once anthemic and narrative; pacing is crucial across Larmes de héros, as more direct power-surges flank the album’s utterly immersive epic songs. And at nine songs across 46 minutes, you feel like you’ve undertaken a hero’s journey – but one not without a monumental amount of headbanging.

Tragically and too fittingly, Larmes de héros would be SORTILÈGE’s final studio album. A number of re-formations would happen over the next couple decades and then fizzle out, but the true SORTILÈGE died with Larmes de héros. Wipe away those hero’s tears, though, for RELICS FROM THE CRYPT at long last resurrects this stone-cold classic for posterity!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition and limited box sold out

– CD edition with sticker and obi – slightly delayed until late December.

DVP-R 009 Rampage – Veil of Mourn LP/CD

RELICS FROM THE CRYPT, the sub-label of DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS dedicated to keeping the past alive, is proud to present a long-overdue vinyl reissue of the cult lone album of Australia’s RAMPAGE, Veil of Mourn, along with a CD edition with both demos as bonus.

While there have been many Rampages past and present, there was only one RAMPAGE from Australia – and a more cult band you will not find. Formed in 1985, the band went through several lineup changes before recording their debut demo, Acid Storm, in July 1986. Recorded on a home 4-track, the demo sold well in their native Melbourne but failed to gain any interest. More lineup changes followed the next year, with a pre-production demo recorded as a prelude to their album, but once again, RAMPAGE failed to generate any record company interest. Then, in late 1987, the band recorded, produced, and financed their debut album, Veil of Mourn, which was more-or-less self-released in early 1988. Extensive touring across Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, and Brisbane followed. Likewise, excellent record sales locally and overseas followed, but no interest from international record companies came. In May 1988, vocalist/guitarist George Mitrov rang bassist Dave Frew and advised that he had found God and would no longer have anything to do with the band; cancellation of all gigs followed. Then, later that year, Dave Frew (who had formed TYRUS with Peter Hobbs) and drummer Bruno Canzianni join Hobbs Angel of Death, and RAMPAGE effectively came to an end.

However, as a lone document of a band and era, RAMPAGE’s Veil of Mourn is superlative in every sense. There’s a distinct ruggedness to the band’s ceaselessly shifting style of thrash. Mind you, NOT necessarily “rawness” – although the album’s production certainly tends toward the rough – but RAMPAGE’s execution eschews the super-clean sharpness that thrash metal was largely heading toward in the post-Master of Puppets era. With form meeting content, the power-trio’s songwriting similarly takes all sorts of labyrinthine paths short of being qualified as “tech,” racing around and restarting with sometimes-maddening fury. Hooks thankfully abounded, and RAMPAGE’s attack undeniably possessed a death metalled underbelly not unlike Dark Angel or aforementioned Oz cult icons Hobbs Angel of Death. With that songwriting often reaching a fever pitch of diabolism and all three members barely keeping that fury in check, Veil of Mourn becomes a palpitating experience, a veritable ‘80s horror movie turned into a thrash record. The creepy cover art only heightened this sensation.

As years passed, the aura around Veil of Mourn only grew, helped in part by Australia’s ever-growing prominence in the extreme metal landscape. RAMPAGE thus became an etched-in-time “what could have been?” cult band, who respectably preserved their legacy with a mere album. Connect the dots to “the Australian sound” with this LONG-overdue reissue!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on red vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

– CD edition with sticker and obi – slightly delayed until late December.

DVP 239 Hellish – The Dance of the Four Elemental Serpents LP

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS, in conspiracy with UNSPEAKABLE AXE RECORDS, is proud to present the highly anticipated third album of Chile’s HELLISH, The Dance of the Four Elemental Serpents. DYING VICTIMS will handle the vinyl LP version while UNSPEAKABLE AXE will handle the CD version.

Since their formation in 2010, HELLISH have become a prolific force on the blackened thrash scene. With a discography to date totaling two albums, three EPs, four demos, a couple compilations, a split, and a single, this Chilean quartet have been nothing but dedicated to their evil cause over the past decade-plus. During that cursed year of 2020, longtime vocalist/bassist Necromancer departed the band, but in came Christopher Aravena as his replacement, and HELLISH sounded more invigorated than ever on last year’s The Vermis Mysteriis EP.

With that bolstered lineup in place, HELLISH return to the full-length front with The Dance of the Four Elemental Serpents. The title alone should speak toward the band’s elevation above the cliché aspects of idiomatic blackthrash; while their grounding in the Teutonic “Big Four” of Sodom, Kreator, and Destruction has never been in question, HELLISH have always made subtle-yet-concerted strides to separate themselves from mere worship, and The Dance of the Four Elemental Serpents proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt. For one, the guitars of Francisco Sanhueza and Javier Salgado wind and wend with wild abandon, keeping the riff trajectory aggressive yet creative, twisting and turning with a diabolism that reaches a fever pitch with well-timed (and quite literally explosive) solos. For another, Aravena’s bass goes in busier directions than just following the guitarists’ riffing; hulking and upfront, his chops match those of the six-stringers, and guitarist-turned-drummer Christian León’s tasteful touches on the kit flesh out that momentum with fury and finesse. Altogether, HELLISH give a masterclass in blackened thrash songwriting that’s far more inventive and interesting than “blackthrash,” and The Dance of the Four Elemental Serpents becomes a surprisingly epic spin during its deceptive eight-song/33-minute runtime.

Dizzying and diabolical, HELLISH hereby raise the bar considerably with The Dance of the Four Elemental Serpents.

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on golden vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

DVP 248 Firmament – s/t LP/CD/MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated debut album of Germany’s FIRMAMENT, We Don’t Rise, We Just Fall, on CD, music cassette and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Leipzig, Germany’s FIRMAMENT are a new heavy rock quintet begun in early 2021 by ex-members of TENSION, Prisma, and Wayward. Despite three of the members having done time in TENSION – who released their critically acclaimed debut album, Tension, via DYING VICTIMS last year – the goal for FIRMAMENT from the start was to write moving and thus catchy hard rock songs that get stuck in your head immediately as well as stylistically/spiritually returning to an era before traditional heavy metal even existed. So, while it’s tempting to superficially think FIRMAMENT are an extension of where TENSION left off, the truth is that FIRMAMENT are indeed their own “firmament.”

FIRMAMENT’s first recording together was a two-song single, “The Void / Losing You,” which they recorded live in their rehearsal room. The single was first released digitally during the autumn of 2021, and then was released as a super-limited homemade tape sold exclusively at gigs. With such heartfelt and truly homemade passion, during March 2022 did FIRMAMENT enter the studio to record their debut album. Poignantly titled We Don’t Rise, We Just Fall, FIRMAMENT’s first full-length sees the five-piece steering the same ship – the unapologetically old-school vibes of the ‘70s and ‘80s and transferring them to the current time, without being stuck in specific genre boxes – but doing so more masterfully than before. Like those throwback eras (and particularly during the ‘70s), equal emphasis is placed on performance and songwriting, each one informing the other, resulting in an album-long experience where each of these nine songs retains its own identity and personality but come together to create a unified-yet-unique headspace. Just witness the deftly dynamic and era-authentic never-overdriven guitar work, where Tom Michalik and Philipp Meyer weave heartrending twin-guitar melodies; underneath that but actually taking center stage is the propulsive-yet-melodic bass work of Stefan Deutsch, which hooks just as effortlessly as those of his six-string partners. Of course, classic hard rock and proto-metal often lives or dies on the strength of its vocals, and in this department are FIRMAMENT no slouch: delivering his last performance with the band, frontman Maik Huber incites goosebumps with emotive, melancholic lines that sound as old as time and further add an air of mystery to We Don’t Rise, We Just Fall.

While FIRMAMENT are currently working on fresh material with new vocalist Marco Herrmann, We Don’t Rise, We Just Fall stands as a citadel of archaic melancholy – towering in its aura, yet approachable across its moss-covered landscape. DVP 249 Hellcrash – Demonic Assassinatiön LP/CD/MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present HELLCRASH’s highly anticipated second album, Demonic Assassination, on CD, music cassette and vinyl LP formats.

Despite forming in 2013 and a couple demos and a split over those first few years, it wasn’t until HELLCRASH’s debut album, Krvcifix Invertör, where the band started to make a dark name for itself. Released on vinyl by DYING VICTIMS in 2021, Krvcifix Invertör proved HELLCRASH were a power-trio in the grand tradition of domestic legends Bulldozer, brewing a similarly sleazy (and EVIL) style of speed metal. Simple but sublime it was, and diehards definitely took notice.

Now, two years later, arrives HELLCRASH’s second album, Demonic Assassination. On first glance (and especially THAT COVER), it would seem that HELLCRASH are sticking to their guns, sowing the same seeds as earliest Slayer, Venom, and of course Bulldozer. Peer deeper and this latest expurse of sodomy shows that there’s more – much more – to HELLCRASH’s cauldron. Immediately, their attack’s more refined here: some would call it “cleaning up,” but the fine-tuning of songcraft and polishing of production have paid off in spades across Demonic Assassination. As such, there’s far more variation in that songcraft – sometimes more speed metal, other times more thrash, or even metalpunk before it was such a thing, often all in the same song – and HELLCRASH ably finesse this transition with tighter execution that, thankfully, doesn’t sacrifice an ounce of energy. In fact, if there’s on guiding aspect here, it’s energy: while HELLCRASH sometimes seem on the verge of self-combustion, so juiced-up is their rollercoaster sound, it all spills over into the listener as a celebration of filth, fury, and FUN. Could this be their The Final Separation? Perhaps…

Still sick, still sleazy, and definitely still crude & rude, HELLCRASH are firing on ALL cylinders here, and not just the old ones. So, while the aforementioned references still apply, Demonic Assassination is equally recommended for maniacs of later GBH, Carnivore, Warfare, Crumbsuckers, and contemporaries Children of Technology.

DVP 251 Animalize – Tapes from the Crypt MLP/MCD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present a reissue of the explosive debut mini-album of France’s ANIMALIZE, Tapes From the Crypt, on CD, and 12” vinyl formats.

Since 2018, France’s ANIMALIZE keep playing the kind of music that you (or your parents) may have been listening to 40 years ago. You know that “Heavy Metal” sound that appeared at a time when none of the band members was born. Well, they’re still doing it.

However, it is the band’s love of movies which arguably influence ANIMALIZE’s outlook the most and make the difference. For them, a visual identity and atmosphere – whether in their visual aesthetic, be it artwork or onstage, or especially their eventual videos – are of the utmost importance. Film also feeds their lyrics, quite often. The band states that such movies as Evil Dead, Mad Max, Pet Sematary, Masters of the Universe, and Terminator are among their most beloved.

While they would bring both to Technicolor climax with their debut album for DYING VICTIMS, Meat We Are Made Of, during the summer of 2022, ANIMALIZE nevertheless came out with all guns blazing two years prior on the preceding mini-album Tapes From the Crypt. With an eye-grabbing (and era-authentic) cover setting the stage, the originally-limited Tapes From the Crypt managed to make ANIMALIZE’s strengths plain and POWERFUL: cruising speed metal glory crossing swords with radio-ready traditional metal of a most mid-‘80s vintage. This is the sound of ANIMALIZE at their most straightforward– and, arguably, most accessible – for the proceeding debut full-length found them upping the vocal layering and especially the complexity considerably, but the gleam & glory of Tapes From the Crypt is undeniable, and undeniably fun. A snapshot of a still-boundless band finding their wings, now finally reissued: the saga of ANIMALIZE begins here!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on deep purple vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.
– MCD edition with sticker and obi.

DVP 241 Freeroad – Do What You Feel! LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present FREEROAD’s striking debut album, Do What You Feel!, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, FREEROAD formed in 2018 with only the goal of making music for the love of making music. The moniker FREEROAD was thus chosen to symbolize the idea that there’s no boundaries in music; genres don’t really matter, as long as they’re keeping the essence of old-school rock ‘n’ roll. For FREEROAD, that essence is largely built up on the classic sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s – be it UFO, Thin Lizzy, Yes, Rush, or Jeff Beck – as well as the early rocking sounds of the NWOBHM.

Armed with such a noble ‘n’ rustic foundation, FREEROAD proceed to make their bolt-from-the-blue first statement with Do What You Feel! Ever aptly titled, Do What You Feel! indeed finds the quartet ranging those aforementioned sounds and styles with almost alchemical ease. Heartfelt, honest, and homemade, FREEROAD’s hot-rockin’ harkens to an era where immediately immersive hooks, loose-yet-locked-in ensemble playing, and earthy dynamics were king. Thus, it’s not disingenuous to suggest that there’s a certain déjà vu here; you might’ve heard these songs before, in a nostalgic alternate reality or two removed, but they had yet to be written. Such is the wondrous and endearingly celebratory magick at work across Do What You Feel!, as each of these nine anthems-in-waiting work their spell: each one different than the last, but definitely all the work of the same band. Again, the album experience as one that’s narrative in its variety – truly, FREEROAD are a band out of time.

Pleasures that are simple but utterly sublime, there’s no over-thinking needed or fancy words necessary when approaching the gritty glory of FREEROAD. Just like its cover cheekily displays, you’ll feel compelled to Do What You Feel!

DVP 242 Critical Defiance – No Life Forms LP

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present CRITICAL DEFIANCE’s highly anticipated second album, No Life Forms, on vinyl LP format. Unspeakable Axe have done the CD version.

Hailing from the cult-metal hotbed of Chile, for nearly a decade now, CRITICAL DEFIANCE have been steadfast purveyors of authentically late ‘80s-style THRASH. Their 2019 debut album, Misconception, turned many a head, and now the time has come for CRITICAL DEFIANCE to turn heads completely around with their second album.

Ominously titled No Life Forms, CRITICAL DEFIANCE’s second full-length sees the quintet firing on all cylinders – and heading into hyperdrive. Insanely tight in their razor-sharp execution, the Chileans here dish out extreme aggression nearly every second of this breathless, 30-minute work, with riffs flowing fast and free, and then going faster, faster, FASTER! Through it all, CRITICAL DEFIANCE’s stop-on-a-dime chops prove jawdropping, and lest one misconstrue No Life Forms as a mere exercise in clinical precision, be aware that the band never forget thrash’s primary power: full-on thrashing and The Mosh, moving seamlessly between the two and with catchiness to spare. All that’s in full force here, and it cannot be overstated how insanely juiced-up their execution is. No speed limit!

Fans of vintage Vio-Lence, Atrophy, Whiplash, and Dark Angel, you’ve met your modern match with CRITICAL DEFIANCE’s No Life Forms!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on aqua blue vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch. – patches are delayed, ships hopefully mid february

DVP 243 Trastorned – Into the Void LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present TRASTORNED’s highly anticipated debut album, Into the Void, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Santiago, Chile, TRASTORNED formed in 2008 with the simple goal of being a local thrash band. Led by guitarist Fabian Piña and vocalist Felipe Lonza, the band became more serious the next year and recorded their debut demo, Decapitacion. More lineup shuffles ensued, but second demo Killer Thrash arrived in 2010. Four years would pass before TRASTORNED recorded another demo, but this time, with Witching Demo!, they revamped their sound and sharpened their attack, going from more blackened thrash to a cleaner and more complex style of thrash not unlike Vio-lence, Forbidden and Exodus around the turn of the ‘90s.

TRASTORNED began working on the initial recording of their debut album as early as 2019, but eventually moved proceedings to a different studio. And while Covid no doubt stalled those proceedings, at last is TRASTORNED’s debut album here: Into the Void. Bearing luridly Lovecraftian artwork by Marcelo Miranda aka Made In Darkness, Into the Void suitably disorients and demolishes the senses with dizzying ease. Truly, TRASTORNED here sound transported from 1990, from songwriting to production, slicing and surging with stop-start precision and an acidic execution as aggravated as prime Demolition Hammer and Morbid Saint. However era-authentic their sound may be, the quintet nevertheless possess THE SONGS to put this handily within that hallowed pantheon, each track taking mind-mangling routes but ones not without hooks; the catalog of riffs here on Into the Void is staggering, and they’re all threaded together masterfully. More than that, TRASTORNED’s chops are superlative and always put in service of the song, and the razor-sharp production only amplifies this electrifying fact.

Eight songs in 30 minutes and your heart will race like it rarely does these days: TRASTORNED will take you Into the Void, and FAST!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on sea blue vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch. – patches are delayed, ships hopefully mid february
– CD edition with sticker and obi.

DVP 252 Running Maiden – s/t MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present RUNNING MAIDEN’s self-titled debut ep, on music cassette format.

Hailing from Switzerland, a quarantine one-woman project at first, Running Maiden quickly turned into a three-piece, totally devoted to classic heavy metal from the 80s. Drawing lyrical inspiration from legends of old and occultism, the band pays tribute to some of their main influences among the likes of Acid and Iron Maiden. This debut ep contains four well written and executed heavy metal anthems – it’s time to enter the Bazaar of Evil!

DVP 250 EMISSARY – s/t LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the striking debut mini-album of Finland’s EMISSARY, self-titled Emissary, on cd and 12” vinyl format.

The planetary grid is riddled with unsteady and weak sonic occurrences, leaving a gap in the terrestrial soundscape. A planet-side distress signal originates from the northern hemisphere. Three trackers have joined forces in a mission to seal the aperture for good.

They are known as EMISSARY.

The tale of Finland’s EMISSARY began in October 2019, just moments before a Cirith Ungol gig in Helsinki. Dimi (Ranger) and Iiro’s idea of a band, which had already been around for years, got the fire it needed when they were chatting before the show with an old acquaintance, Joel (ex-Chevalier), and it turned out that his conceptions and ideas about music matched perfectly with the duo. Already at the first jam session, everything fell into place, and the trio focused immediately on writing their own songs. A shared vision crystallized week by week as sci-fi and fantasy fueled the ideas for the material. Even in the very beginning, the unrelenting power of old-school US power metal and the challenging structures of prog rock were the centerpieces of the music.

The epidemic slowed down the trio’s activities in spring 2020, but EMISSARY continued to actively rehearse whenever possible. In less than a year’s time after founding, the band began to record their debut five-track mini-album in cooperation with producer/engineer Anselmi Ahopalo.

Using precise state-of-the-art tech and stalwart sonic equipment from eras bygone, they have devised heavier-than-sun frequencies that would secure the breach and they would devote themselves as the Guardians of the Seal.

Indeed, EMISSARYs list of influences is vast and idiosyncratic. From the cult likes of Helstar, Sacred Blade, Camel, Virgin Steele, and Chastain to the big likes of Iron Maiden, Rush, Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate, and Yes to films like Conan the Barbarian, Blade Runner, the first two Predator movies, the Star Trek franchise, and many, MANY more, EMISSARY’s pool of textures and sensations is nigh overwhelming, if not for the bravado in which they pursue their own sound and the resultant compositional mastery they so freely flex across Emissary. Truly, the record’s five primary songs – the aptly titled “Galactic Overture” sets the stage as an intro – burst and bristle with so many dazzling shapes, it’s almost an afterthought that the power-trio make these sonic sci-fi castles catchy. So, chops for days and also hooks just as long, EMISSARY here deliver a half-hour of infinite possibilities in what’s bound to be a classically brazen first statement – and now, under the auspices of DYING VICTIMS.

Stand by to receive auricular surge of earth-shattering heavy metal.
THE ORDER WILL BE RESTORED

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on grimace purple vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.
– CD edition with sticker and obi.

DVP 253 LUCIFUGE – Monoliths of Wrath LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated fifth album of Germany’s LUCIFUGE, Monoliths of Wrath, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Since 2016, Germany’s have been steadily perfect an addicting style of blackened speed metalpunk, all guided by the iron fist of mainman Equinox. Come 2021’s fourth full-length Infernal Power, Equinox expanded LUCIFUGE to a full lineup, and it paid off in spades: the band’s first album under the banner of DYING VICTIMS capped this signature sound with power and applomb, exuding a new professionalism that somehow sounded dirtier than ever.

And as forecasted last year by their short ‘n’ sweet split with Italian comrades BUNKER 66, LUCIFUGE continue to spit-shine that sound with Monoliths of Wrath. Immediately upon pressing “play” on this fifth full-length, it becomes clear that Equinox and crew are taking their sound in a newer but no-less-parallel direction. Unapologetically more technical than their more idiomatic “metalpunk” past, LUCIFUGE’s latest LP is not lacking for speed – in fact, it’s FASTER – but this much-more-directly thrash-oriented record takes sonic cues from classic Sodom, Kreator, Exodus, and of course Slayer. Thankfully, we’re still entrenched in the ‘80s here, but more accurately 1987 rather than 1984. Likewise, the evil, blasphemic, and anti-religious themes are retained throughout the whole record, but Monoliths of Wrath sees LUCIFUGE integrating some almost-atmospheric black metal passages in between. So, while it definitely follows from the aforementioned full-length and split, Monoliths of Wrath involves much more complex song structures overall, which are given maximum power through the production: full-bodied and “pro” but hardly soft, LUCIFUGE’s first foray into a proper recording studio (rather than the practice room) makes a huge difference in highlighting their new dynamics and tempo variation. Oh, and did we mention the BREAKDOWNS? Seriously, this is a timewarp to ‘87, in the best possible way!

So, a blast from the past, but diffently: LUCIFUGE have truly nailed their own sound and direction with Monoliths of Wrath.

– Regular gatefold edition on black vinyl, with poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special gatefold edition on beer colored vinyl, with poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.
– CD edition with sticker and obi.

Out 28th April.

DVP 258 High Warden – Land of Stone MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the debut demo tape of Germany’s HIGH WARDEN, Land of Stone, on music cassette format.

The newly founded two-piece released their first four tracks digitally in the end of 2022, but now this epic doom & heavy metal demo will get its appropriate tape release. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Magic Circle, Solstice, Orodruin and Reverend Bizarre (whom they also pay tribute to by covering “Cirith Ungol”), HIGH WARDEN frame their own signature sound, plainly named Slow Heavy Metal. It’s an endless death march on the warrior’s path towards bleakness, doom and the murderous malice of the Morgul vale, paved with iron-clad riffs of Ancient Steel.

Dying Victims Productions is proud to announce the following new releases:

BildBildBild

DVP 254 Speedwhore – Visions of a Parallel World LP/CD/MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated second album of Germany’s SPEEDWHORE, Visions of a Parallel World, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

SPEEDWHORE was formed in Munich by Tim Kuntze and Johannes Mikulits in 2006. What started as an alcohol-induced joke soon took its own course when, soon after, SPEEDWHORE had their first rehearsals with a quickly expanded lineup. Three demos followed (one unreleased) as well as two singles and constant gigs in the ever-thriving German underground. But it was the band’s debut album, The Future is Now – released in 2015 by the cult label Witches Brew – that truly put SPEEDWHORE on the metal map, featuring as it did an odd-yet-endearing mix of thrash, black metal, and traditional heavy metal. An EP and a split 7” followed before Tim moved to Berlin and revamped the band completely. With the lineup filled out by Alexander Pusch, Leonhard Link, and Marcel Cording, SPEEDWHORE started to have national and international gigs again, and this lineup released their first output on a tribute album to Japan’s legendary Sabbat as well as another split 7”.

Road-tested by yet more gigs, the revamped SPEEDWHORE make their full-length debut with Visions of a Parallel World. At once sounding strikingly SPEEDWHORE and incredibly reinvigorated, the band’s second album takes that odd-yet-endearing mix to grander, grimier levels. On the surface, much of Visions of a Parallel World could soundtrack a heavy metal drinking party…but listen closely and one will detect unique twists of atmosphere and a more idiosyncratic approach to songwriting that jointly put SPEEDWHORE in a whole new realm (or a rarefied one populated by such idiosyncratic cults as fellow Germans Witching Hour or Slovenian labelmates VIGILANCE). The nine-song/39-minute album charges hard and charges in many directions, but always forward and abyss-ward, and the filth freely washes over you as a ghostly fog of ancient terror simultaneously casts its spell. The supremely grainy & old-school yet spacious production skillfully enhances this sensation and further lends an air of the archaic to proceedings, but rest assured that true HEAVY METAL physicality is present and accounted for. Call Visions of a Parallel World, then, a heavy metal drinking party where dread portals are also opened.

Equally suited to the streets and castles, SPEEDWHORE fire up the motorbikes and evoke Visions of a Parallel World.

DVP 255 Violent Sin – Serpent’s Call LP/CD/MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present VIOLENT SIN’s highly anticipated debut album, Serpent’s Call, on CD, music cassette and vinyl LP format.

Hailing from Belgium, VIOLENT SIN formed in 2016 to honor and build upon the legacy of heavy metal and its varied & diverse forms. Although the band certainly draws inspiration from the days of yore, they’re certainly not limited to what people would call ’80s metal – in their words, “We believe that real metal is timeless” – and humbly and reverentially do they offer a continuation and innovation of what all their predecessors set in motion.

VIOLENT SIN’s first recording came in 2017 with a digital single, and then was followed a year later by a six-song demo. Five years would pass before a new lineup was configured, but at long last – and with a revitalized sound, to boot – is the band’s debut album ready to unleash its fury upon the world. Titled Serpent’s Call, VIOLENT SIN’s first full-length is indeed a summons to all headbangers who love denim and leather, cauldron and sword. Like a veritable jukebox, Serpent’s Call synthesizes all sorts of righteous metal styles – classic speed, proto-blackthrash, speed-cum-thrash, juiced-up traditional – into one 37-minute thrillride. The recording’s suitably rough but not overly raw, maintaining a “murky clarity” not unlike a classic Combat or Metal Blade record from 1985, and just the right amount of echo to emit sulfurous atmosphere. And at 11 swift ‘n’ stout songs, VIOLENT SIN race from one to the next, but always with memorability and malice.

For those who hail earliest Slayer, Exciter, Abattoir, Hallow’s Eve, and Germany’s Warlock, heed the Serpent’s Call of VIOLENT SIN!

DVP 256 Armagh- Serpent Storm LP/CD/MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present ARMAGH’s highly anticipated second album, Serpent Storm, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

Formed in 2012, ARMAGH are a heavy metal force from Satanic City Warsaw. Mixing classic heavy metal from the ’70s and ’80s with proto-black metal, ARMAGH are the creators of First Wave Only movement, which unites several Polish bands delivering old-school metal – among them, labelmates GALLOWER and SEXMAG but also Torpor, Wielki Mrok, and R.I.P. – with primal severity in their sound and message.

Truly, ARMAGH are a maniac maniac’s band, idiosyncratic mainlining such noble influences as Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Motörhead, KISS, Manilla Road, early Slayer and Megadeth, W.A.S.P, Bathory, Dissection, Running Wild, KAT, and the NWOBHM in general into something authentically rustic and effortlessly unique. They delivered their first recording, the Venomous Frost EP, in 2016 and then followed it three years later with a split and then debut album, Cold Wrath of Mother Earth. The latter was exceptionally cult, but simply set the stage for their breakout record: Serpent Storm.

Wild and weird but never belabored, ARMAGH’s second album seemingly comes from an alien place – one where Battle Cry, Another Perfect Day, Haunting the Chapel, Chinatown, Under the Sign of the Black Mark, and Born Again all simultaneously play in perfect, hellish harmony. A true record collector’s record, Serpent Storm displays its power and personality at every turn, each of these ten songs offering its own canvas of darkness and mystery, ultimately making the album an epic of archaic splendor and true rivetheaded spirit. For as “old” as the album supposedly sounds (and by OLD, we mean ANCIENT), ARMAGH’s rumbling ‘n’ roiling attack feels remarkably fresh compared to so much nowadays “heavy metal” or especially “black metal”; from the warlocked clean tones of frontman Galin Soulreaper to his almost rock ‘n’ rollish guitar tones, there’s nothing trendy – only timeless – about that attack. The 45 minutes of Serpent Storm feel too short, so addicting is its alchemy.

Prepare for the sleeper hit of the year in ARMAGH’s Serpent Storm: FUCK MODERN METAL, FIRST WAVE ONLY!

DVP 257 Rapid – Blackstar Oppression Regime MLP/CD

DYING VICTMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present RAPID’s striking debut mini-album, Blackstar Oppression Regime, on 12” vinyl and CD formats. The CD version will include the band’s Deadly Torment demo as bonus tracks.

Hailing from coldest Finland, RAPID create burning-black speed metalpunk. The band’s roots go back to 2013, when the three friends – vocalist/bassist Vincent Revenge, drummer Tapio “The Goon” Malmström, and guitarist Atte “Spectre” Nikku, the latter two then still members of Excuse – were playing covers of such bands as Venom, Motörhead, Hellhammer, Slayer, and Judas Priest. The next year became more serious, and they decided to name themselves RAPID and soon recorded their first demo, Rapid Metal Attack. In 2016, they released their second demo, Deadly Torment, and garnered some larger recognition, especially outside of Finland. That then led to a deal with Svart Records for the Ancient Force 7” EP, released in 2017.

Then, in 2020, after a few years of different phases, live shows, and strict practice and composing, RAPID recorded their breakout mini-album, Blackstar Oppression Regime. Immediately upon pressing “play,” lighting strikes and it’s apparent that RAPID are more juiced-up than ever, electricity literally bristling from every second of these four songs. Whereas prior RAPID recordings suggested more convenient subgenre categorization, here on Blackstar Oppression Regime is the attack ever so subtly more unique. There’s the urgency of hardcore punk, the hook-oriented propulsion of speed metal, and the spidery aura of old-wave black metal, but even then, that only tells half the RAPID story; some of the lead lines could come from classic deathrock, while the general hot-rockin’ that anchors everything is pure turn-of-the-‘80s heavy metal. Put together, especially with the power-trio’s charisma spilling over into everything, Blackstar Oppression Regime becomes a four-pronged attack of timeless metal anarchy.

Previously only available digitally, Blackstar Oppression Regime now sees physical release via DYING VICTIMS, both as a stand-alone 12” and on CD buttressed by Deadly Torment. RAPID have arrived!

DVP 259 Mälheür – Nocturnal Forces MC

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the debut demo tape of France’s MÄLHEÜR, Nocturnal Forces, on music cassette format.

The four-piece realized that in their specific area nobody was delivering the real metallic assault and because of that, they started Mälheür in 2021. Their only aim is to summon Hell and oldschool steel. Fittingly they rehearse in the stables of an old castle and with influences ranging from Living Death, Whiplash, Deathhammer, Kreator to Razor (a cover of « City of Damnation » is included), it is clear that Mälheür is dedicated to the old days of speed and thrash. SATANIK SPEED LEGIONS RAISE FROM HELL and bang your heads to « Nocturnal Forces »!!!

DVP 248 Firmament – We Don’t Rise, We Just Fall LP/CD/MC

DVP 248 Firmament – We Don’t Rise, We Just Fall LP/CD/MC

Maniacs for ‘70s Scorpions, Blue Öyster Cult, Wishbone Ash, and Thin Lizzy, lay down your sword and stand before FIRMAMENT!
