rapanzel hat geschrieben: I am sorry that you were not happy, but we did not choose what type of discs were used. Our manufacturer chose, before we knew the difference and by then it was too late. I did contact our manufacturer to get clarification and I can assure you these were not 'cheap CDRs' In fact they were of the highest quality with advances in technology that makes them comparable to regular silver pressed CDs.
Yes, the new Take 'em By Storm album, which releases on December 9th, is a silver pressed CD.
The Cry In The Night and Race Against Time are high quality silver CDRs. This disc has a silver "Diamond Coat" top surface, and a Silver (Phthalocyanine) recording surface. These are far superior to standard CDRs.
Why is it better?
#1 The Dye - Since the laser which records the data burns the dye, it is a key aspect of the technology required to manufacture a high-quality CD-R. Indeed, One of the greatest strength lies in its use of the patented Phthalocyanine, the best organic dye currently available.
#2 The Surface - The discs feature their own Diamond Coat surface, which resists scratching and fingerprints. Unlike a pressed CD normal CD-R processing leaves the most vital area the most vulnerable. Just below that lacquer surface & reflective layer on top of your disc is the precious dye layer, which is what stores all your data. Scratch the top, and you've got a problem. The Diamond Coat is an extra hard surface that keeps the audio data safe.
#3 The Consistency - Every disc is made to the center of the Orange Book standard. They do not cut any corners with shorter stacking rings (causes static), thinner reflective layers (poor playback on old readers, or dye (100-300 year life vs. 10-30 years)
These are meant to last 10 times longer than normal CDRs (100-300 years), which is comparable to the lifespan and quality of a silver pressed CD.
In the future we intend to exclusively use silver pressed CDs though, as we can afford to manufacture more. We are still an independent band, so resources dictate that will take time. Take 'em By Storm is the first CD we have been able to afford to do this with, as we had the commitment for a major worldwide distribution deal. We are still covering all of our own marketing, production and manufacturing costs and using an independent distributor, solely to get the CDs into the stores.
ALL of the CDs and inserts are factory made and printed. There are no 'stick on labels' on our CDs, so they will give you many years of listening pleasure.
I do understand your perception though, and we can offer to send you one of the new CDs for the price of only shipping and handling. If you would like one of the new Take 'em By Storm CDs, let me know.
The cost will only be $6.90 to ship it to Europe.
I can offer you the same deal when we are able to order silver pressed stock for the other two CDs in the future. We expect to be able to afford this in the first quarter of 2009.
Thanks for your support and understanding,

Genau dieses Mail habe ich mittlerweile auch bekommen. Was da steht, ist IMO totaler Blödsinn. Immerhin bieten sie den Austauch gegen "echte" CD's an. Das mache ich aber erst, wenn alle drei Alben erschienen sind. Drei mal Versandkosten zu zahlen sehe ich nicht ein.
