- The sound was so big I swear it created a new fjord behind us. -

Metal Blade Records Inks Worldwide Deal with Slough Feg

The Lord Weird Slough Feg early albums to be released as 3CD box set: First time available in the US!

Jan. 14, 2013, Agoura Hills, Calif. – Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce the signing of SLOUGH FEG, who’s style is an eclectic mix of Celtic Folk and Traditional Metal peppered with buckets of energy and lyrical depth. On February 5 the label will also be releasing three of the band’s early releases that, until now, were only available as imports. Twilight of the Idols (1999), Down Among the Deadmen (2000), and Traveller (2003) will be packaged as a 3CD box set will also be made available on their own, digitally, via iTunes, Amazon, Google+, or your favorite digital retailer. Check out samples from these albums and preorder your copy HERE.

Guitarist/vocalist Mike Scalzi comments: “We are very excited to announce that we have signed a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records for a new album, which we are beginning to record this month. The new material will be standard Feg-Fare—- that is, totally non-standard!! Of course there will be some galloping, rollicking, bouncing buccaneer riffs unearthed from the Voi-Vaudevillian vaults, and a touch of good-‘ol misery and madness (not to mention more peevishly punctuated puns) in the lyrics. But this time there will also be a cavalcade of cacophonous crooning to add to the caterwaul, as well as the lavishly-landscaped luster of some majestic Morricone-esque riffs at which to marvel—-perhaps a slight proto-American-West feel. So as usual, you’ll just have to wait to hear it yourself!!!

We are also equally excited (if not more excited!!) to announce that Metal Blade is re-releasing our second, third and fourth albums in the form of a bad-ass box set!! It’s about time these albums were made available in the USA!!! They’ve always been imports in the past, but now you can get them all at once!!”

Also available as part of a preorder is a The Lord Weird Slough Feg logo shirt that fans can pick up bundled with the 3CD for a special low price.

About the band:
SLOUGH FEG — originally The Lord Weird Slough Feg which was shortened to Slough Feg after the release of their 2005 album “Atavism”—whose name is derived from a character in ancient Irish mythology, originates from Central Pennsylvania and relocated to San Francisco in 1990 in hopes of resurrecting the ailing ‘true metal’ scene in the United States. The band quickly gained a reputation as, ‘The band San Francisco loved to hate’ by taking a stand against the trends and incorporating stage savagery with strong visual imagery.

The band produced three demos in the early to mid nineties, which were followed up by a self-produced, self-titled debut CD released in 1996.

Scoring points for originality in the European underground, they aroused the interest of Dragonheart Records in 1998 and Twilight of the Idols was released in 1999 by the label. This was followed by the 2000 release of Down Among the Deadmen and Sci-Fi epic, Traveller, in 2003. In 2005 the band moved to the Italian label Cruz Del Sur and shortened their name to simply, SLOUGH FEG with the release of Atavism. 2007 brought the dawn of HARDWORLDER, and a slight change of direction to a ‘70’s NWOBHM sound. 2008 saw the release of The Slay Stack Grows, a compilation containing over 30 tracks on 2CD’s, with Ape Uprising! (2009), The Animal Spirits (2010), and the live album Made in Poland (2011) rounding out the rest of the band’s catalog.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg is:
Mike Scalzi - Guitars/Vocals
Angelo Tringali - Guitars
Adrian Maestas - Bass
Harry Cantwell - Drums
