I daresay that was a sunday well spent. Nice atmosphere, dedicated headbangers present (hi, Helle!) plus one good and two smashing shows.
Honestly, I didn't care much for Courageous or Arctic Flame, although they went through their set with fitting enthusiasm. Their music just doesn't appeal to me.
Shadowkeep's performance was hampered a bit by singer Richie Wicks's illness, as a result the setlist was shortened by the three older songs 'Dark tower', 'Distant paradox' and 'Beware the signs'. Technically, this band is ACES.
Setlist Shadowkeep:
1. Shadow Keep
2. Incisor
3. Ten shades of black
4. Riot on earth
5. Waiting for the call
6. As the hourglass falls
7. Leviathan rising
8. With force we come
Yep, that's about three-thirds of the new album The hourglass effect, out on November 21.
After the 'Keep we were treated to two great metal gigs, by Wolf and Vicious Rumors respectively. Both bands benefited from a crushing guitar sound and went at it with so much energy that the club rocked from top to bottom. You've just got to love Wolf, they're metal to the very max.
As for headliners Vicious Rumors: Geoff and the guys once again lived up to their long reputation as a live band. Ronnie Stixx's soaring yet melodic vocals fit VR perfectly - it was a treat to hear the old stuff - for the setlist, see the VR-in-Itzehoe-thread - sung by someone who actually has the feel and range for it.
All in all a fine little festival.
