ICON haben ihren Auftritt beim Headbangers abgesagt. Dafür spielen Demon nun schon dieses Jahr!

Find ich persönlich ziemlich geil...hätte Icon zwar gerne mal live gesehen aber Demon gefällt mir doch deutlich besser.

Ist echt ein verwunschenes Jahr: Chaos beim KIT, viele Absagen beim HOA,.... Von anderen Verlusten will ich gar nicht anfangen. Da freut man sich schon auf Sylvester, 2011 wird alles besser!

Von Anstand,Professionalität und zu seinem Wort stehen zeugt das nicht eben bei so manchen Bands wie mir scheint.Das mal ne Band aufgrund interner Probleme oder Job ausfällt ,damit muss man rechnen. Aber kann mich nicht an derart viele Absagen bei nem Festival erinnern wie dies Jahr auf dem HOA.
Aber Demon ist 100% ein mehr als guter Ersatz für Icon.Scheiße,Das wird sicher "Magic" wie R.J.Dio sagen würde.Nur dies Jahr aus schon erwähnten Gründen ohne mich

I like Demon but they are an easy band to see around european festivals while Icon were a totally unseen headliner.

I'm sorry, but once again, I'm losing my faith. It's horrible to spend 400 euros on going to a festival where so many bands are changed from the announced at first time.

The ususal way nowadays it seems to be. The better would be to announce the billing not as soon as possible, the best would be to announce nothing until the festival... and imo a replacement is and will be always the replacement and not the at first confirmed one. See Hades or Candlemass@KIT or Ratt@BYH. Difficult to handle and at least most disappointing for the fans of the expected performers.

What have Candlemass and Hades to do with this situation? The cancelled directly before the festival and not long before...This can also happen when you announce a billing a month before the festival.

Keep cool, only examples where I was very disappointed to see them not because as a familiy man a festival is planned in detail concerning costs and time. First of all I'm there for the bands then for meeting old and new friends, drinking beer and having fun and a good time together.

Over the past years it's my impression cancelling is the new sport independent from the reason. I mentioned this in another thread concerning my family situation as well. So the best would be to announce NOTHING but that doesn't work... because of recruiting many fans as possible in spreading the word rapidly to promote the event.

But Oli, imagine you're a fan of a band you've never seen before or an artist would be playing once in a lifetime in Germany and got cancelled it is very very disappointing. And then cancellation comes like a domino effect with another one and another... so the current billing is distinctly not the first announced one and differs very much with bands that are none of the personal favorites and for them someone wouldn't dare for all the costs (food, travelling,...).

At least I know it's difficult to organize, respect to all of you promoters but nevertheless I take my right to be disappointed, that's all.

Of course it sucks, if a band cancels on short notice, but what can you do about it as a festival? Nothing, right? You have to blame the bands for that. No contracts or anything else can stop a band from cancelling. That is the bitter truth. Believe me I am the most disspointed guy as fan AND organizer. So it makes no difference if you book a band a year before or one month before. If one get ill or a volcano erupts you can do nothing.

Entscheidend für den Besucher finde ich, dass er erkennen kann, dass sich ein Veranstalter stets bemüht, für adäquaten Ersatz zu sorgen. Nichts wäre einfacher, als gar nichts zu tun - das HOA Festival ist ja ausverkauft. Aber das ist nicht unsere Politik (genausowenig wie beim KIT) und ihr könnt euch alle sicher sein, dass Absagen für uns die Pest sind.

Das erste was ich nach circa 10 Tagen Abwesenheit lesen muss, sind erneute Absagen für's HOA, und mit Icon und Warmachine fallen jetzt nicht gerade die geringsten Bands aus. Wenn jetzt Anvil Chorus, Raven oder Shok Paris noch absagen, bekomm' ich 'ne Krise.
Wenigstens habt ihr mit Demon einen sehr adäquaten Ersatz verpflichten können.

Raven, Anvil Chorus, Shok Paris kann ich Dir 100%ig garantieren, da sind auch die Flüge gebucht. Wie schon erwähnt bemühen wir uns nicht nur stets um gleichwertigen Ersatz, sondern auch darum, Sachen von Bands, die uns nicht verarscht haben (also nicht Warbringer z.B.) ggf nachzuholen - was im übrigen dieses Jahr mit Amulance, die mal nicht kommen konnten, geklappt hat als Beispiel.

That's maybe what should be modified or improved somehow... I help with the organization of the Pounding Metal Fest so I know how it fucks that a band cancels and how hard is to find a worthy replacement but as a fan I spend most of my money travelling to festivals to see bands like Icon how are impossible to see anywhere else.

It's easy to understand that we could be sad about it, disappointed or however you want to call it.
