The Gates Of Slumber have announced that former drummer "Iron" Bob Fouts will sit behind the kit on the band's next US tour. The band has parted amicably with their friend J. Clyde Paradis, who recorded and toured behind last year's acclaimed album, The Wretch (Rise Above Records). Fouts drummed for the band on previous Gates classics Conqueror (2008) and Hymns of Blood and Thunder (2009), which both landed in Decibel Magazine's "Best Albums of the Year" lists.
Band founder Karl Simon (guitar / vocals) and longtime comrade-at-arms Jason McCash (bass / backing vocals) invited Fouts to fill-in for their upcoming tour with Hammers of Misfortune, which kicks off July 18 in Chicago. "We had a lot of good times together with Cool Clyde and created a massive album that will last the ages however now we are just personally headed in different directions." said Simon in a statement.
"I''m really stoked to hit the road again with our long time friend and former member Bob Fouts and I am really looking forward to see what tomorrow may bring! " added McCash.

Also, It appears that there will be some new music coming from TGoS later this fall. As things progress news will be released here first!
Yes, I personally have written a lot of material and demo-ed them for myself but I think I got things widdled down to about four or five songs that I’m personally satisfied with. Karl had a lot of things recorded on his personal recorder too but unfortunately he lost all that when his house was broken into during the CHURCH OF MISERY tour and all his personal home equipment was stolen. So right now we are basically just taking things day to day and see where things lead us.
No, I’m never stressed about doing a new album. I’m personally really excited when it comes to doing something new. Each new album is basically a reflection of our lives and what we are going through personally at that time, so I’m sure this next album will be a continuation of what we already have done in the past, however it will be a new chapter for us, a new story if you will.
From my part, I want the next album to be extremely bleak and depressive. More so than what “The Wretch” was. I want it to be extremely heavy musically and emotionally and I want it to be something that people will come away from it having a real life experience with it and see it as a reflection of their own personal life. This world is a very ugly place and most of our lives are filled with a lot of ugly aspects that we have to contain and deal with on a daily basis just to try and make it through to the next day. I have had a lot of loss in the past two years and have felt at the end of my rope and the music I have written for the next album pretty much is an extension of those feelings.
The lyrics to the songs are really important. They kinda solidify the sonic landscape that the music is creating. I can’t speak for Karl but for the songs I have written for the next album, they are going to still lean more towards realism and back away from the older fantasy elements that we use to champion so much on the earlier albums. I mean, my life now has gotten so far away from those days and like I mentioned before, music is basically a mirror, reflecting our lives in our art.
