HEAVY ARTILLERY Reissue Scheduled For Spring 2008 Release - August 9, 2007
The fans have spoken and their voices have been heard! Auburn Records is
proud to announce that the HEAVY ARTILLERY compilation reissue has been put on
the schedule for a spring 2008 release. The 20-band compilation was
originally released on cassette only in 1990. The CD version, although scheduled at
the time, was never issued. Bands featured on the compilation include
BREAKER, KRAZE, CHEMIKILL, DECIMATION, REAL STEEL, PURGATORY, DEUS VULT, SACRED
HEART, TERROR, TORMENT, DESTRUCTOR, ATTAXE, TRIGGER ZONE, HATRIX, WRETCH,
BRAINICIDE, REBELLIOUS ANGEL, SEVERE WARNING, TITAN FORCE and THE SPUDMONSTERS.
Many have called this the greatest underground heavy metal compilation ever
released. "During my two trips to Germany this year with Destructor, Wretch
and Eternal Legacy, the most requested title from my catalog the fans wanted
reissued was the 'Heavy Artillery' compilation", says Auburn Records president
Bill Peters. "I was quite taken back by the response, which was even greater
than in past years. This compilation really means a lot to the fans."
Talking about the history of "Heavy Artillery", Peters goes on to add: "The
project originally was put together by myself as a labor of love and is a
snapshot of just how strong the late 80s metal scene was here in Cleveland. It
was started and worked on during a very difficult time in my life and took
some time to complete. I was locked in exclusive contracts with Island and
I.R.S./MCA Records at the time that limited my label operations. I was also
struggling to deal with the sudden tragic loss of my friend Dave Iannicca from
Destructor, which really took a lot out of me emotionally. I am honored
people think so highly of this release still after all these years. This label
has always been about the fans first and foremost. Unfortunately, it seems as
though every time I thought about working on this project something else
would come up and it would get delayed. I am realigning some things on my
release schedule to make sure this finally becomes a reality. The fans have been
so good to me and my label over the years. I want to thank them personally
for all of their support and do this release as a small token of my
appreciation. This reissue is dedicated to the fans!"
The "Heavy Artillery" reissue will include bonus tracks and a few other
surprises! Plans are to debut the release in Germany at the Keep It True
Festival's 10th Anniversary show in April 2008. "Oli (Oliver Weinsheimer) from
Keep It True has invited me over for his special anniversary show next year",
says Peters. "I cannot think of a better place to premier the release of the
'Heavy Artillery' reissue. The timing was perfect!"
