Ich hoffe die Band wurde bei euch noch nicht vorgestellt.

Shadow waren eine US Power Metal Band, die ihre einzige musikalische Hinterlassenschaft 1989 in Deutschland eingespielt hat. Eine EP mit 7 Songs, unter dem Titel "Iron Umbrella".

Das lag daran, dass die Jungs aus Seattle in den 80ern alle in Schweinfurt in der Infantry Division stationiert waren. Und da sich kein Kommunist über den Eisernen Vorhang getraut hat, hatten sie wohl ausreichend Zeit um im nächst gelegenen Tonstudio ihre EP einzuspielen (ähnlich wie die göttlichen Sabre, die in Karlsruhe stationiert waren).

Die Scheibe bietet treibenden, unverfälschten Power Metal, mit einem klaren und ausdrucksstarken Sänger. Bester Song ist wohl "The Soldier", in der die Jungs über ihre Erlebnisse in der Army singen.

Und da die Scheibe mittlerweile zu den absoluten Raritäten gehört, gibt es von der Band auf ihrer Homepage sämtliche Songs zum download. <a href='http://www.ironumbrella.com/' target='_blank'>Link</a>

Hört sie euch mal an, denn diese Jungs waren wirkliche "Metal Soldiers" !!

Ja leider hat die Qualität beim rippen doch arg gelitten, die Original EP hat auf jeden Fall einen einwandfreien Sound.

Ich fand es aber noch halbwegs ausreichend, um die Klasse der Songs zu erkennen.

Bei Interesse kann man sich dann entweder auf die Jagd nach der EP machen, oder sich im Netz einem besseren Download-Link suchen.

Und z.Z. weiß man ja nie was so alles Geiles / Obskures noch als Rerelease in vernünftiger Form und Auflage erscheint.

Das liegt in dem Fall weniger am Rippen als an der Bitrate, die absolut unbrauchbar ist.

Great pictures, look like you had a good time back then. Feel welcome to share some info about SHADOW, i'd love to hear more how your band came together.

We formed in 1986 at Conn Barracks in Schweinfurt. We started off doing cover songs, mostly Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, etc. We would mess around at the beginning of practices, and we eventually turned those impromptu jams into actual songs. Monte Starling and Tony Thornton (both of whom are lyrical genius') had pages upon pages of lyrics that we sorted through and put to the music we created. We scraped together enough money to go into the studio (Woodhouse Studio in Massbach) and record and produce a limited pressing of our music. What you hear on the EP is only a portion of the actual songs we wrote, and was actually the second time we recorded our original music. We have enough unreleased and unpublished songs to record at least two or three full length albums. While I am back in Germany, the rest of the Band is still in the States. I am still in contact with them, and we all still remain very good friends. We are very interested in playing together again, and we are looking for a venue or fest to play here in Germany.
