As the 80s were drawing their last breath and most people had moved on to Death Metal, Grunge or left altogether, small pockets of resistance remained. Bands like ARCANE, KINETIC DISSENT, ICED EARTH, BLACKKOUT or BITTER END were trying to fill the void left by their forebearers and though most of them are forgotten today, they did not have any less talent and deserve to be remembered. Alternating between the realms of Speed, Power and Thrash Metal, New Jersey's own HORRIFIER follow these traditions on their debut full length, as great songs like 'Premonition' or 'Exordium / From Beyond The Grave' (featuring a guest appearance by ICED EARTH drummer Greg Seymour) clearly show. MECHANIX "Sonic Point Blank" CD (BREW028)
One could just state that "this is the best MEGADETH album since "Rust In Piece"" but would not do these guys from Nürnberg any justice. Clearly, a band called MECHANIX doesn't even try to hide their inspiration yet songs like 'My Style' or 'Collateral Damage' go far beyond mere cloning and simply pick up where the original artist lost it almost 20 years ago.
