I've often spoken of my own personal love/hate thing for the band, but I'm starting to believe that the love is more me just being plain ol' sentimental anymore, and the hate has a lot to do with the simple fact that I'm really not down with the stuff they've been pumping out (very slowly) in recent years.
I'm resentful that they've added these 'rabid dogs' fan base who actually like these songs that I think are obvious 2nd rate copies of songs they once wrote that were great.
And that these new fans of the band that I once loved so much are so busy quoting lyrics that they don't seem to notice that you don't spell 'wimps' with an "H" or that a lot of these lyrics are just plain really silly in the first place.
I always loved the imagery of the epic songs, and I loved the fun of the silly ones. The combination suited me and I was happy to be very serious about being a fan of Manowar. I grew up to be who I am today because of the ideas the band stood for.
But if you tell me to "Leave the Hall" because I dare to say I don't like everything about the band, I'll pretty much just laugh at you for having seriously told me to "Leave the Hall"!
